LOW ENERGY SPREAD 100 MeV-1 GeV ELECTRON BUNCHES FROM LASER WAKEFIELD ACCELERATION AT LOASIS*
Experiments at the LOASIS laboratory of LBNL recently demonstrated production of 100 MeV electron beams with low energy spread and low divergence from laser wakefield acceleration. The radiation pressure of a 10 TW laser pulse guided over 10 diffraction ranges by a plasma density channel was used to drive an intense plasma wave (wakefield), producing acceleration gradients on the order of 100 G...
متن کاملTerahertz radiation from laser accelerated electron bunches
Coherent terahertz and millimeter wave radiation from laser accelerated electron bunches has been measured. The bunches were produced by tightly focusing ~spot diameter '6 mm) a high peak power ~up to 10 TW!, ultra-short (>50 fs) laser pulse from a high repetition rate ~10 Hz! laser system ~0.8 mm!, onto a high density (.10 cm) pulsed gas jet of length '1.5 mm. As the electrons exit the plasma,...

متن کامل( 15 . 11 MeV , 1 + , T = 1 ) transition amplitude at 200 MeV
Using data obtained through simultaneous measurements of (~ p, ~ p ) spintransfer observables and (~ p, pγ) coincident spin observables, we have made a model-independent determination of the complete scattering amplitude for the 15.11 MeV, 1, T=1 state in C at an incident proton energy of 200 MeV, for four proton scattering angles ranging from θc.m. = 5.5 ◦ to 16.5. At each angle, 16 different ...
متن کاملRelativistic attosecond electron bunches from laser-illuminated droplets.
The generation of relativistic attosecond electron bunches is observed in three-dimensional, relativistic particle-in-cell simulations of the interaction of intense laser light with droplets. The electron bunches are emitted under certain angles which depend on the ratios of droplet radius to wavelength and plasma frequency to laser frequency. The mechanism behind the multi-MeV attosecond elect...
